UDPATE2: Source: Russian ambassador to Turkey dies of gunshot wounds

MOSCOW, Dec 19 (PRIME) -- Russian ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov died of gun wounds he received in Ankara on Monday, a source said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Karlov was shot at and received on-site medical assistance. The Russian government is in touch with the Turkish authorities, it said.

Turkish media said the incident happened at an opening of a photo exhibition.
